![]() I have 60k microsoft sights used to take all data u name, windows 10 11 server 2016 2019 was built off windows 7 core. I run windows 7 just fine, and i will not upgrade it, reason as i help with code that alows them spy on people, throw at time i did not know what they was doing i quickly found out, window 10 reports to over 1000 servers and there is no know way stop it, one ipv6 should be disabled for small busness and homes, this cant be trace or discover who is owner throw dns can work with ipv6 ip address microsoft will remove them, Wow how many years u have under your belt to make this statment, i running computers sence dos, i been running servers domains for last 20 years help microsoft seagate, ibm qnap, I know Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft and there could be a security risk, but realistically, is there really any reason not to use the older OS for a Plex server? It's an older, not particularly powerful system, so I think the lighter OS would be a better experience. The other part of me wants to use Windows 7, since it's what the old PC shipped with, there's less bloat, there's no "phoning home", and there's no Microsoft account needed. Part of me wants to just reinstall Windows 10 and do the same stuff I've dealt with in the past. I stuck an old SSD in to replace it, but the time has come again to pick an OS. ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't worry, the media drives are still safe. Well disaster struck and the computer's hard drive died. The usual Micro$oft account BS and random restarts taking the server offline became regular annoyances, but I decided to stick with Windows because that's what I know. So I switched it to Windows 10, because that's what I knew how to use, and it worked great. Initially I used Ubuntu, but I had issues with sharing the USB drives over my local network. ![]() So I'm using an old hand-me-down computer as a Plex server, plus 2 12TB external hard drives for media storage. ![]()
